The Morebo dream is to instil a culture of planning and saving within our society.  To reach the youth through our Intern programs; to change the thinking of  future generations to ensure everyone knows and understands you have the right to be financially literate.

"It's not how much money you make,
but how much money you keep,
how hard it works for you,
and how many generations you keep it for."

Robert Kiyosaki

The above quotation reminds me of a story of a young boy whose parents could not afford to pay for his university fees.  The parents and older members of the family decided to work hard and earn as much as possible in order to send the young boy to University so that he can come back and improve the entire families standard of living.

The boy attended University, he did very well in his first year and obtained a bursary for his 2nd and 3rd year.
The young man passes University, gets a job, becomes successful, earns a good living and changes the standard of living for the entire family.

One day, on his way to work he is involved in a car accident.

From this we can agree that one of three things might happen to the young man: -

  • The young man might come out of the accident disabled;
  • The young man might die from the accident and
  • He might just come out of the accident totally fine.

Whether the young man becomes disabled or dies, the question remains, “What provisions has he made to still look after his family?”

Thought provoking?

Being financially literate ensures you are aware of your debt, the poverty trap, spending money you don’t have on things you don’t’ need, borrowing money to pay debts.  The difference between good and bad debt, your saving options.  The negative implications of not budgeting properly.

Being financially literate is not optional it’s a necessity.

Our passion is to pass onto the youth our knowledge and experience.  We, at Morebo want to bring sound financial advice to all.

“Wealth is not about having a lot of money; it's about having a lot of options.”
